A national competition for students and young scientists for scientific and research papers on the revitalisation of degraded areas has come to an end. Organised by the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas in Katowice, it started at the beginning of the year.
Its participants included undergraduate or doctoral students from leading Polish universities, such as the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow, the Gdansk University of Technology, the Cracow University of Technology and the Wroclaw University of Technology, the University of Agriculture in Cracow, the Poznan University of Life Sciences, the Gdansk University and the Poznan University.
25 papers were submitted in four categories: design and planning, natural and landscape, social, technological and engineering.
The jury awarded 3 main prizes, 4 distinctions and 2 additional awards consisting in the participation in the 7th International Conference Innovative Solutions for Revitalisation of Degraded Areas in Ustron. The award ceremony will be held on 2nd October 2013 during the conference. The winners of main prizes will present their papers in the relevant thematic sessions.
